I really wanted to visit El Celer Can Roca, when visiting Barcelona a few weeks ago. Especially since I had to cast my votes for the Pellegrino Worlds 50 Best Restaurants. Unfortunately there was no table, and I ended up at a more modest – but still recommendable – place: Enoteca Vinya Roel. It is a wine shop and a restaurant under one roof, serving rather classic spanish dishes in a somewhat refined fashion, without trying to go haute cuisine. Very pleasant food and service, and a great wine list at reasonable prices. A good place if you are tired both of tapas bars and gourmet temples, but just want to relax with a great steak and a wine to go with it.
